The Episcopal Church Welcomes You

About Holy Nativity

Welcome to Holy Nativity’s website. I hope that our site will offer you a taste of our unique community. We are a diverse community committed to making our church a place of welcome and nurture for all people. We believe such diversity brings God closer to us and us closer to God, the Creator and Lover of all. All are welcome here.

At the center of our life together is the celebration of Holy Communion, the sharing of a common meal of bread and wine. At our service you will sing anything from traditional hymns to gospel or jazz tunes. You will say prayers both familiar and words to inspire your imagination to behold the mystery of God. We are a church grounded in tradition, yet ever inspired by God’s creative presence and power to welcome the new.

Most of all, you will experience embrace here. Whether a spiritual seeker, a seasoned disciple, a skeptic or a saint, come as you are. I hope that Holy Nativity might be a place of support, inspiration, guidance and growth for you, so that empowered by a community of faith, you can claim and use your God-given gifts to make this world a better place.

Building and Grounds Ministry

Holy Nativity has a very active building and grounds ministry. This group of men and women keep their eyes peeled to make sure the house that holds the church is in good shape. Currently, the Buildings and Grounds Committee is working to transition Holy Nativity to CFLs (Compact Florescent Lighting) to help make CHN more green. This committee is always up to something and invites people to take part in their ministry in a variety of ways (see below). If you are interested in the Building and Grounds Ministry, please contact Sue Crowell.

Holy Weeders

Each spring, people at Holy Nativity are invited to help keep our gardens beautiful. Holy Weeders adopt a small zone in one of the planting beds along the perimeter of the church and parking lot to keep them neat and as weed free as nature allows. Once the weather warms up, Holy Weeders can feel free to plant annuals or perennials and make your zone as colorful as you want! No need to be a green thumb or even own a trowel. You only need a willing body and spirit and about 30-60 minutes every two weeks. Afraid you may not have the time? Buddy up with someone and share a zone. Holy Weeders are supplied with a basic list of what needs to be done, a pictorial list of weeds in each zone and all the gardening equipment needed to keep Holy Nativity beautiful! Please see Sue Crowell for more information.

Clean Sweeps

Once each Spring and Fall, the Building and Grounds Committee invites the people of Holy Nativity to come have fun together while working on a grounds project. This project may be cleaning and staining the playground fence, painting the stoop, trimming trees, or cleaning closets. There’s always some housekeeping to be done, but many hands make light work. Many hands also mean many people to have fun and laughs with while working.

Facility Use

Holy Nativity invites outside organizations to use the building for their meetings and gatherings. If your organization is interested in hosting your meetings at Church of the Holy Nativity, please contact the church office at 630-323-6820.
