Feasibility
What is Feasibility?
Feasibility is the next stage in the process toward determining if Church of the Holy Nativity will go forward with a capital campaign. A feasibility study will allow our consultant, Terri Mathes with the Episcopal Church Foundation (ECF), to make some very specific recommendations to us about what is feasible for our congregation. The goal of the Feasibility study is to help the Vestry determine whether to go forward at this time with a capital campaign.
Each member of the congregation will be asked, through interview, electronic survey, or mailed survey, some very specific questions about a potential capital campaign. Parishioners will be asked, among other things, about their potential financial commitment to such a campaign but without any level of obligation or commitment. Please help us to have a meaningful study by becoming familiar with the proposed projects and then, taking the time to pray over your response for your interview or survey.
A good feasibility study should answer five questions:
- Have we educated all the members of CHN about the proposed projects?
- Does the congregation as a whole agree with the need for these projects?
- Will enough members of the congregation be willing to work on a campaign?
- Will they support the campaign financially?
- If so, what range of giving feels comfortable?
Our timeline includes:
April 9 – Interviews conducted by Terri Mathes with selected parishioners
April 11 – Electronic and mailed surveys go out
April 25 – Postmark deadline to return survey directly to ECF
May 24 - Terri presents the results of the study and recommendations to the Vestry
Since vestry meetings are always open meetings, anyone is welcome to attend on May 24. Results also will be available in printed form and on our website.
A feasibility committee has been formed to guide the parish through this part of the process. Its members are Mimi Johnson, chair; Carol Park, communications chair; Joanie Ward-Chandler, interview scheduler; Katie Dedek, direct mail coordinator; Susan Dillon, electronic survey coordinator; Jody Collins, Pam Goodrich; interview hospitality.
