Marianne Thompson
Director of Music Ministry
My Story
Marianne has been the CHN Director of Music Ministries for twenty-two years. She has fifty-four years of experience serving United Church of Christ, Methodist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, and Episcopal churches in Wisconson, Iowa, and Illinois. She has directed adult, teen, and children’s choirs, provided Sunday service music on organ and piano, and has also led a band.
She received her extended BA degree in Music Education, focusing on organ and voice. She received her
MS degree in Library Science and is a retired public library manager. She is married with one son, and three
lively grandsons.
Marianne leads Taizé services 3-4 times per year. Taizé provides an opportunity to meditate on God’s
word through music and prayer.
The CHN choir presents the annual Lessons & Carols service. The choir sings every Sunday from
September through May. The CHN choir sings a wide variety of anthems covering several genres. Anyone from middle school ages through adult is welcome to join the choir. In the summer the congregation is invited to share their instrumental and vocal music talents during Special Music; a summer choir sings once a month.
